Daily Life of Selene and Nike
By: Astraea
Selene and Nike, odd for the bright former goddess of the moon and the strong and speedy goddess of victory to be friends but that is the way life works, unpredictably.
Back in the day Nike used to drive Athena’s chariot in battle, she always won. Now these days competition is everywere and Nike is never bored.
Hanging out in a football stadium she cheers for the winning team.
“I love sports like football and soccer where there is always one winning team and one losing team. Racing with cars and motorcycles is really fun to watch too, completely epic. Hey you! What do you think your doing??? He’s wide open!!! JUST THROW IT!!!” She yells at the quarterback of fer favorite team.”
Later that day she entered herself into a dirt bike competition and won a 1st place trophy which she added to her collection of hundreds of other trophies.
“I’m not afraid to get down and dirty ’cause the best competition is always the hardest, where skill and brains determine the winner, not luck.
Selene on the other hand likes to keep things peacefully and simply.
I ran into her while she was reading a book in the Garden of the Gods. “Its beautiful here isn’t it.” she says, “Always surrounded by animals, not pesky tourists as most places are. People are just so strange these days, there was one time I stopped to ask a man trying to lift up a heavy suitcase if he needed any help and he just mumbled something about coconuts.” she recalls, “I think he got ran over by a bus after that, he should have just accepted my help.” I asked her about her days of driving the moon. “It was beautiful, chilly at times, but the view was stunning. I got to chat with those who were in the stars. They were grateful to have someone to bring them news of the mortal world. It was a wonderful job, but I’m glad that Artemis took it. Only Artemis is able to handle the moon. We chat from time to time. She says that more stars have been showing up. By that I don’t mean movie stars.”
